Hoegee’s Backpack By Geoff I couldn’t attend but some scouts reported back to me on this outing. The scouts had a great time backpacking into the Hoegee’s camp ground which is about a 3 mile hike along a stream in a rugged forest in the San Gabriel Mountains. We had to get our water filtered from the stream. It was cool under the trees but very hot above the trees as a group of scouts tried to climb Mt. Zion. They ran out of water and had to turn back near the top. Some scouts completed their 5 mile map and compass. The scouts who did not hike made some short videos around the campground. Francesco led this outing and did a great job. There were bears in the area and we heard some spooky noises at night. Most scouts stopped at In-and-Out Burger on the way home Sunday. |
